Your Favorite Brunch Bevvie is 100 Years Old

Originating from the vibrant city of Venice, this iconic drink has a history dating back over a century ago. The Bellini’s story begins in the 1930s at the legendary Harry’s Bar in Venice, a place where people like Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Joe di Maggio hung around. (You know… just a few casual names pulled from the history books.)

So it’s no wonder why Giuseppe Cipriani, the bar’s founder, named the drink he created after a renowned Renaissance painter – Giovanni Bellini. Bellini used soft, muted colors in his artwork, and Cipriani found inspiration in that in creating his cocktail.

The original Bellini is still served today at Harry’s Bar in Venice.

Bellinis + Brunch = Meant to Be

The original Bellini recipe is simple – ripe white peaches pureed to perfection, combined with chilled Prosecco. And even though it’s a simple cocktail, the Bellini has become a global sensation over the decades.

Its popularity soared in the 1980s when it became a staple in trendy brunch spots and chic cocktail bars around the world. The drink’s appeal lies not only in its delicious taste, but also in its association with gatherings and celebrations.

Today, the Bellini continues to be enjoyed by everone from seasoned cocktail enthusiasts to casual sippers. It has evolved with modern variations that feature a spectrum of fruits, from pear and fig to pineapple and grapefruit- just like ours here at Bettolino, with our six different flavors that give a fun twist on the classic!

Whether sipped on a sunny terrace overlooking the beautiful views of Italy, or enjoyed during brunch on our very own patio here at Bettolino, the Bellini is a sparkling icon that everyone can enjoy.
